Fukuoka Hotels | Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk | Upscale Seaside Hotel Next to the Fukuoka Dome | Night Views of Fukuoka Tower

Hilton is one of the largest hotel chains in the world and is widely seen as a high-end hotel brand. The Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk, where I stayed this time, is one of its five-star properties.

Thanks to a business trip, this was my second stay at the Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk. From the room you can look straight out at the night view of Fukuoka Tower and the sea view over Hakata Bay, and the Fukuoka Dome is right next to the hotel. The downside, though, is that it's really far from the city center — you pretty much have to rely on Uber to get around conveniently.

📍 Location

The Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk sits right beside the Fukuoka Dome, some distance from the lively city center. Even the nearest subway station, Tojinmachi, is a 15-minute walk away, so the location is genuinely inconvenient for travelers who want to explore downtown.

This trip I relied entirely on Uber. From the Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk to the busy areas (Tenjin, Nakasu-Kawabata) is about 5–6 km, and the average Uber fare runs between 2,200 and 2,600 yen per ride — roughly NT$400–500, a bit pricey compared with Taiwan. So if you're considering this hotel, transportation is the biggest thing to think about.

🏢 Hotel Environment

The main entrance and reception lobby of the Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk are on the fourth floor, while the first floor serves as the entrance for large tour coaches, buses and group guests. Both the first- and fourth-floor lobbies are extremely spacious and bright, with plenty of sofas and seating where guests can take a break or sit and chat.

The Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk is 35 stories tall. Besides guest rooms, quite a few restaurants are scattered across different floors, and the fourth floor has an entire shopping arcade. The shops don't look particularly exciting, but at least guests staying away from downtown have somewhere to browse without going out. There's also a FamilyMart convenience store where you can pick up food or drinks at night.

This Hilton has been open for a long time, so the in-room fittings do look somewhat dated. The room this time looked and was equipped almost exactly the same as five years ago. It isn't large, but by Japanese standards it isn't small either — a bit like a clean, tidy business hotel.

I was assigned a double room with a standard-size double bed — more than enough for one person, and the mattress firmness was just right and comfortable. I happened to get the smallest room among our group, but there was still plenty of space to fully open a large suitcase. The room has the basic amenities, a TV, a desk and chair, and so on.

Breakfast Area

The breakfast area is behind the fourth-floor reception desk. The whole space is beautiful — a soaring high-ceilinged hall with lots of light fixtures, giving it a very grand, upscale feel, and there's plenty of seating.

The breakfast selection isn't very wide, though, and I found the flavors just so-so. After three days in a row I was a bit disappointed — not the delicious, abundant breakfast you'd imagine at a luxury hotel.

And although there's lots of seating in the dining area, the buffet serving area is very small, so when tour groups arrive or during peak hours, long lines form just to get food. On one of my three days there was a tour group, and getting food took forever...

Personally, I found the stay at the Hilton Fukuoka Sea Hawk merely average. The rooms are clean but the fittings feel a little dated, and the breakfast wasn't as tasty as I'd hoped... On top of that, the far-flung location is a significant drawback. If I were coming to Fukuoka, this wouldn't be my first choice; it's probably better suited to business travelers or larger groups.
