Bangkok Bar | BKK Social Club | Luxurious High-End Bar Inside the Four Seasons | No.7 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2024
BKK Social Club is located inside the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River, which opened at the end of 2020. In just over a year, BKK Social Club claimed the No.10 spot on Asia's 50 Best Bars in 2022, making it one of the most popular and landmark bars in Bangkok in recent years. On this Bangkok trip, I planned to come and experience this bar that has made the top ten three years in a row.

📍 Location & Interior
BKK Social Club sits inside the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River. The nearest BTS station is Saphan Taksin, and it's still a 15-minute walk from there, so this time I simply took a Grab from elsewhere in the city straight to the hotel entrance.
To reach the bar you have to enter through the hotel's main entrance and make a series of right and left turns, so the easiest approach is to ask a staff member at the hotel entrance to guide you there.
You have to pass through several areas of the hotel lobby before arriving
Finally you step out of the hotel interior into this semi-open outdoor area to reach BKK Social Club
The interior of BKK Social Club is extremely luxurious and upscale, with plenty of seating. We arrived on a Monday evening, and by the time we left every indoor seat was full — a testament to how popular it is.

📜 Menu
During this visit, the new drinks menu had been out for less than a month. Its theme is "Mexico," featuring plenty of Mexican elements you'd associate with the country — tequila, rum, chili and more. The menu is divided into three themes: Places, People and Parties, and each drink comes with a note about the inspiration or story behind it.

There's also a page of twists on classic cocktails — nine classics combined with Mexican elements, such as the Highball, Gimlet and Martini, each given some interesting variation.
🍸 The Cocktails
A bittersweet welcome drink with a small snack
CARLOS
Inspired by the music of Carlos Santana, made with Domaine Ott Clos Mireille Rosé, Monkey 47 Gin and other ingredients. It looks somewhat like a mojito in style; the aroma is fairly subtle, mostly mint.
Plenty of crushed ice makes the texture lighter, with low alcohol presence. On the palate it's a slightly sweet-tart raspberry-like flavour, likely from the combination of passion fruit and sherry, with a rosé wine body on the finish.
CHIAPAS
Inspired by the coffee culture of Mexico's Chiapas state, it's built on an espresso martini base but swaps the traditional vodka for rum, with a herbal liqueur note woven in. The espresso aroma is rich, and the sweet popcorn served alongside adds plenty of variation to the drinking experience. The flavour is fairly by-the-book, but it's worth a try.
FRIDA KAHLO
This cocktail draws on the bold style of artist Frida Kahlo, aiming to deliver layered complexity. The nose is fresh citrus, but on the palate the anise (star anise) aroma bursts out immediately — rich and pronounced. If you don't like star anise, this one may be hard to take.
That said, the anise gradually fades over time, and the sweet-tart maple flavour becomes more prominent, bringing gentle sweetness and aroma into better balance.
CHICHEN ITZA
This drink is inspired by the interplay of tropical fruit and coffee flavours, seeking to capture the exotic feel of Mayan culture, using clarified sesame milk, various fruits, coffee and more.
The first thing you smell is a light coffee aroma; on the palate it's balanced between sweet and tart, with a subtle silky coconut note, paired with tropical fruit flavours of pineapple, strawberry and banana. Well-defined and outstanding overall — the most impressive and my favourite drink of the night.
GIMLET PICANTE
Built on the classic Gimlet with the spicy kick of Mexican chili added, creating a brand-new sweet-tart-spicy flavour.
It smells of chili, and on the palate has an amusing savoury-broth or dirty martini quality. Overall it's quite different from the Gimlet variation I had imagined, but it's very interesting.
Before leaving, since we had moved over to the bar counter, the bartender treated us to a frozen "bye bye shot" — a slushy shot based on pineapple (or passion fruit, I've forgotten...). It was delicious, but the slush was simply too cold to down as a shot 🤣
Overall it was a very good experience. Beyond the cocktails, the service is at five-star hotel level and the setting is comfortable. The bartenders and staff all speak excellent English, so communication was no problem at all, and during the evening staff even came over to ask how we were finding the drinks, keen to gather guests' impressions while also sharing their own tasting notes.
If you're in Bangkok, BKK Social Club is definitely a bar worth working into your itinerary.
On top of the listed prices there's a 10% service charge plus 7% tax — pretty pricey...
